Wednesday, November 03, 2004 :::
From my Local paper:
Four years ago, Monroe County voted for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore, but George W. Bush won. This year, the county favored the President over his Democratic challenger John Kerry.
President Bush picked up 8,728 Monroe County votes from four years ago, selecting the President 37,469 to 36,086 Tuesday.
The 2004 results mark only the fifth time a Republican presidential candidate has won the majority of votes in Monroe County. Republican presidential candidates also won the favor of county voters in 1972, 1980, 1984 and 1988.
